Chileans Elias Valencia and Bettina González made the podium at the Duke OceanFest

Chileans Elías Valencia and Bettina González placed third and fourth respectively in the “sitting” and “lying” categories of the adapted surfing events at the Duke OceanFest, which takes place annually on the waves of Queen's on the south coast of Oahu, Hawaii and which ended last week.

“I am happy to have run the final, I can return to Chile with peace of mind after not having run for a year,” said Valencia in a post on the Chilean Federation’s Facebook. In the final, the Chilean faced Brazilian Felipe Lima and American Chris Oberle, who placed first and second respectively.

Meanwhile, Bettina González climbed to the semifinals where she placed third behind the Dane Bruno Hansen, who ended up winning the event, and the Hawaiian Ann Yoshida.

“We are super happy with the result even though we stayed in the semi-finals, we made a lot of progress compared to last year,” Bettina said on her social networks.
