Joao Chumbinho Chianca's campaign ended in the knockout round at Teahupoo, leaving the door open for his core supporters to overtake him.

Chianca was unable to beat the local Kauli Vaast and will finish the regular tour with 44290 and this makes it mathematically possible that, being fourth in the ranking, he will be left out of the finals if:
-Yago Dora finishes second in the Tahiti Pro and Medina is champion.
-Yago Dora finishes second in the Tahiti Pro and John John is the champion (they would tie in points but John John would win in the tiebreaker for series won in the year, according to AOS Midia).
