Two months after winning the Nazaré Challenge, Brazilian Lucas Chumbo returned to Portugal to win again, today in another edition of the event.
He won the individual category with 21,06, beating Jamie Mitchell in second place with 19,66. His teammate, the Portuguese Nic Von Rupp, placed fourth and this made them both win the award for the best team of the tournament.
In this category, Chilean Rafael Tapia, who placed eighth, with Mitchell in second, finished the event as vice-champions of the team category.
Among the women, Michelle des Buillons pushed Maya Gabeira but the latter managed to turn the result around in the last heat of the day. Frenchwoman Justine Dupont was injured on her only wave of the day and was unable to fight for the division.
Finally, the prize for the greatest risk was awarded to Australian Jamie Mitchell.
The Basque Axi Muniain, who was going to participate in the tournament with Francisco Porcella, tested positive for Covid 19 and had to withdraw from the event.
