Cleland took a good third at the Huntington QS 3000

Lucca Mesinas placed fifth; Brownell, McGonagle and Cabrero reached the round of 16

Mexican Alan Cleland got off to a good start in his participation in the 2023/2024 Challenger Qualifying Series. He placed third in the QS 3000 held in Huntington Beach, California, and collected 1825 points.

In his semi-finals, Cleland faced the eventual winner of the event, John Mel, who beat him 14 to 12,77.

Previously, the Mexican had beaten the Peruvian Lucca Mesinas by 12,97 to 12,17.

Messinas, who is already in the challengers, participated in the event as part of the training for the events he has ahead of him, such as the Pan American and the first CS, which begins in May on the Gold Coast.

Among the ladies, Havanna Cabrero of Puerto Rico and Leilani McGonagle and Rubiana Brownell of Costa Rica made it to the round of 16.

The next North American regional event on the calendar is unconfirmed and is the WRV Outer Banks Pro, QS 1000 taking place between August 30th and September 3rd.
