Clemente Rodriguez, the 14-year-old who rides waves in Punta de Lobos
Sponsored by Ramón Navarro, he shows a good future (and a good present) in big wave surfing
Young Clemente Rodriguez is from Punta de Lobos, where he says he surfs almost every day and catches some good waves at the age of 14.
Not only that, but he seeks to stay deep and tube in sections where most humans would try to stay as far away as possible.
Rodriguez thanks the legendary Ramon Navarro for helping him and motivating him to take charge of the waves and learn the ropes at Punta de Lobos. If there is a teacher out there, Navarro is the leader.
"Ramón helps me a lot when it comes to big waves, sometimes with equipment, helping me get in, with the bike, with motivation and with the desire to dive in headfirst," he told DUKE.
Asked who his favourite surfers were besides Ramón in Punta de Lobos, he said: "There are many from Ramón's generation and Martín Fuenzalida's generation and my generation. And we are learning from the older ones," he concluded.
