A young team of talented Colombians will be present at the Surf City El Salvador ISA World Junior Surfing Championship that will take place between May 27 and June 5 in La Bocana and El Sunzal, authorities from the country's surfing federation informed DUKE.

The team is based on the 2020 South American champions and 2021 runners-up, has several surfers who compete in more than one division, its two ladies, Angelina de Cesare and Francesca Arevalo, and the South American medalists Kahlil Piñares and Romeo Chávez.

On average, the surfers on the Colombian team are 13 years old, with Óscar Hernández, 12, being the youngest and Elías Cárdenas, 17, being the oldest.

Colombia participated in the youth world championships from 2015 to 2019, 2016, 2017, 2018 and achieved its best participation in Oceanside, California 2015, when it placed 28th.

In subsequent World Cups, the coffee growers failed to make it into the top 30. In the last edition of the event, in 2019 in Huntington Beach, California, they placed 31st.
