Colombia won the team trophy at the South American Children's Surfing Championship, supervised by the South American Surfing Confederation for the second consecutive year on Las Velas beach in Cartagena de Indias.

The two gold and silver medals (alternating) in the under 14 and under 12 male categories obtained by Romeo Chavez and Kahlil Piñeres were the keys to the team victory.

In the women's category, Peruvian Catalina Zariquey was one of the highlights of the competition because she won in the Under 12 and Under 14 categories.

The waves broke in a fun way, half a metre high, allowing several of the best under 14 and under 12 surfers in South America to show their skills.

In addition to Peru and Colombian representatives, representatives from Panama, Venezuela, Ecuador, Argentina and Chile participated.

Only three teams managed to travel with their full selection of eight participants (two competitors per category): Argentina, Venezuela and Ecuador.
