Colombian Freddy Marimón won the US Open
He won the open and junior categories in one of the most prestigious adapted surfing events in the world

Colombian Freddy Marimón Blanco was crowned champion of the U.S. Open in the open and junior categories yesterday in Oceanside, California, which is one of the greatest achievements of his career.
This is one of the biggest tournaments in adapted surfing worldwide, where Freddy, who is 13 years old, dominated completely.
“I am very grateful to God, who has allowed me to win these first two gold medals for my country, and to all the people who have supported me along the way: the governor of Bolívar, Dumek Turbay; my coach, Jesús Capote; the president of the Colombian Surf League, Andrés Porras, and my mother, who has always been with me. I dedicate this triumph to Bolívar and to all of Colombia, and I will continue working hard to continue achieving many more successes,” said Marimón, according to the Colombian newspaper El Universal.
The governor of Bolívar, Dumek Turbay, one of Freddy's main sponsors, publicly congratulated the surfer: “What happiness! Our dear Freddy Marimón has just been crowned champion of the US Open Adaptive Championships, in Oceanside (California). You are a great example and you fill us with pride with your effort and discipline.”
Now Freddy will continue his tour that will take him through the waves of Argentina, where the South American adapted surfing competition will take place, and through the mountains of the United States, where he will train for alpine skiing. trying to get into the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics.
