Colombian Freddy Marimón Blanco was crowned champion of the U.S. Open in the open and junior categories yesterday in Oceanside, California, which is one of the greatest achievements of his career.

This is one of the biggest tournaments in adapted surfing worldwide, where Freddy, who is 13 years old, dominated completely.

“I am very grateful to God, who has allowed me to win these first two gold medals for my country, and to all the people who have supported me along the way: the governor of Bolívar, Dumek Turbay; my coach, Jesús Capote; the president of the Colombian Surf League, Andrés Porras, and my mother, who has always been with me.
