Chile's Tapia and Basque Country's Muniain appear as alternates for Nazaré tournament; priority of six will be implemented at Peahi event; WSL put up half a million dollars for the new Guinness record holder
Colombian Isabella Gómez appears on the main list of the Jaws Big Wave Challenge, which opened its waiting period on November 15 and runs until March 31.
Gomez is on the select list of 12 big wave surfers who will compete in the tournament on the feared Maui break.
The official list is as follows:

The other event that is waiting for waves is the Jaws tow-in event, which has the Basque Axi Munian and the Chilean Rafael Tapia on the waiting list.
Nine teams will compete and go into the water twice; the surfer who receives the two highest scores will win the tournament.
The teams are as follows:
Team 1: Lucas Chianca (BRA) & Kai Lenny (HAW)
Team 2: Nic von Rupp (PRT) & Pedro Scooby (BRA)

Outside of the tournament, the WSL put up half a million dollars for the surfer who breaks the Guinness record for the biggest wave ever surfed, which is currently held by German Sebastian Steudtner: 86 feet or 26,21 meters, which he surfed on October 29, 2021 in Nazaré.
