Each board costs $5.500 and is shaped by American manufacturers Grain Surfboards. According to the article, the exclusive product is part of a project by the whisky brand called Beyond the Cask, in which they also made sunglasses and bicycles from the wood of the barrels.

On the Grain Surfboards website it explains: “Grain surfboards are designed using the latest 3D modeling technology and hand built using traditional woodworking techniques and local, sustainable softwoods that naturally produce artful grain patterns on each board.”

The boards, which took over a year to build, are a combination of white cedar, red cedar and oak wood. Each board has 12 staves of a barrel, which is half the size.
