Competitions returned to El Salvador

There was a championship yesterday and another one is taking place this Saturday with more than 100 registered participants.

Competitive surfing returned to El Salvador this weekend with a community event on Peña Blanca beach in La Libertad and the announcement of the now classic championship organized by Gordiño Surf Trips.

According to local Chute Hasabun, yesterday's event was won by Cristian Amaya, who left Samuel Arenivar in second place, Alejandro Martínez in third and Josué Molina in fourth.

The Gordiño event will take place in Punta Roca next Saturday and already has 115 registered participants, the organizer's brother, Pan American medalist Bryan Pérez, told DUKE.

“It’s a competition that my brother always tries to do. He’s already done three times, but I think this is going to be one of the biggest ones he’s done. It’s well organized, there are a lot of prizes,” Bryan said.

“People have come together and donated things for the awards. It is going to be one of the biggest events of the year (…) It is a super big event that all the locals are looking forward to,” concluded the local that is the favorite for the championship.

Prizes and other details can be seen on the poster below.
