The Surf City El Salvador ISA World Surfing Games will take place in 2021, Tourism Minister Morena Valdéz told local press, reported the Salvadoran newspaper La Huella.
Valdez explained that in addition to the ISA World Championships, which will continue to be an Olympic qualifier, two more international events will be held at the beginning of the year.
“The official said that the government of President Nayib Bukele is making great efforts so that when the world returns to normal, El Salvador remains an attractive place for international tourists,” writes the aforementioned media.
According to estimates made by the ministry, due to the pandemic, El Salvador has stopped receiving 1,8 million visitors, which translates into more than 1.100 billion dollars.
The ISA Open World Championships were the only ones still scheduled to take place in 2020 that kept their date.
Last week, DUKE announced that the ISA would meet with the Ministry of Tourism, which confirmed the change of date yesterday.
