Contest awards $6.000 to female surf photographers
With “Photos for parity”, they seek to encourage women in the sector who are less than 5%
The international surfing archive wants to encourage female photographers through the project “Photos for Parity” and will give two scholarships, one of 5.000 dollars and another of 1.000 dollars for its two winners, the respected Mexican photographer María Fernanda Bastidas, who is also a member of the jury, informed DUKE.
Winners will be able to use the money to carry out the project or to finish it, depending on what phase they are in. Applications are open to women over 18 regardless of where they live.
The judges are a panel of respected professionals that includes Joni Sternbach, Tim McKenna, Kelly Cestari, Todd Glasser, Sarah Lee and the aforementioned Mexican María Fernanda.
The application period closes on November 22.
According to the contest website, 95% of the world's surfing photos are taken by men.
