Continuing a perfect streak, Miguel Tudela won at El Gringo

The Peruvian won all three QS events he participated in this season and became the first surfer in history to achieve that record.

Today's podium at El Gringo: Tudela and Gouveia, finalists, Satt and Teixeira, semi-finalists.

Miguel Tudela won the Arica Pro Tour at El Gringo and broke a historic record, becoming the first surfer in history to compete in three WSL events and win all three.

The Punta Hermosa local had won 1.000 in Galapagos, then 3000 in Iquique and today he earned the 5.000 points awarded by the El Gringo tournament.

Tudela started by winning his round of 16 series against Guillermo Satt, Gabriel Klausner and Lucas Silveira, then beat Douglas Silva in the quarterfinals, Guillermo Satt again in the semis and finally got the better of Ian Gouveia in the grand final.

The Peruvian's tight but very deep barrel was key to his victory, giving him 8,83 and allowing him to manage the series against the Brazilian. He later backed up the win with a 6,03, gaining a good lead.

Gouveia made some good attempts and came very close but in none of them did he achieve the 7,37 required.

The final score of the series was as follows: 14,86 (8,83+6,03) for Tudela and 14,30 (7,5+6,8) for Gouveia.

In the semi-finals, surfers Rafael Teixeira were eliminated by Ian Gouveia and Guillermo Satt by Miguel Tudela.

These results shook up the South American WSL rankings; to give some examples, the entire podium of the tournament is in the top 5; Ian Gouveia who was 160th in the ranking moved up to position 5, Satt is now third and Teixeira fourth.

The top 10, which ranks the challengers in South America, is as follows with three stages left this year and also including those that take place between January and April 2023:
