Argentina's Lucía Cosoleto won her second consecutive Pan American Surfing Championship today in Santa Catalina, Panama, after dominating the final series in which she found several right-handers in which she maneuvered radically.

She left Peruvian Vania Torres in second place, Brazilian Aline Adisaka in third and also Peruvian Brissa Málaga in fourth.

Cosoleto started quickly with a 4, which he backed up halfway through the series with a 5,5, and then improved on a wave in the series in which he did a strong maneuver and then fell, but the first maneuver was so strong that the judges rewarded him for improvement.

The final scores were as follows:

Vania Torres' second place, ahead of Málaga, was the key to determining the final classification through this event for Santiago 2023, according to calculations made by DUKE.

With the maximum slot per country being one, they fought for the Peruvian spot in Santiago 2023; the result favored Torres who returns to the Pan American games; Torres won silver in Lima 2019.

She joins Xiomara Bowen from Ecuador, Yoselin Alabi from El Salvador and Catherine Temple from Canada; they are the four SUP surfers who have qualified for Santiago in Panama.

The result gave Argentina its second gold medal out of three that have been awarded.
