Costa Rica announced its selection for the World Surfing Games
Fillingim, Perez, King, Martinez, Wiggins and Woodland were chosen by coach Jim Hogan

The Costa Rican team for the World Surfing Games to be held from September 15 to 22 in Japan will be made up of Anthony Fillingim, Jair Pérez, Tomas King, Zulay Martinez, Coral Wiggins and Eva Woodland, the press department of the federation of that country reported.
The definition does not include the four best Costa Rican surfers on the world tour, Cali Muñoz, Noe Mar McGonagle, Leilani McGonagle and Brissa Hennessy because, as explained in the statement, "during the entire month of September (they will be) in competition and preparation appointments" for the QS tour..
“The common factor among the six selected for this occasion is that they all have experience in ISA events. In the case of the men, all have been in the U18 and Open World Championships, and the women will make their debut in the Open, thus considering an incorporation process,” the statement adds.
