Costa Rica announced its team for the youth world cup

The Ticos are well armed for the largest junior event on the planet


The Costa Rican Surfing Federation announced in a press release the 12 young Costa Ricans who will be competing in the ISA Junior World Championships between October 27 and November 4 in Huntington Beach, California.

Ticos will be represented as follows:

As stated in the press release, the team will feature six U-16 competitors (male and female), while the U-18s have extensive experience in international events.

“It is a very balanced team, with surfers who have the potential to win this tournament. We have the Under 18s who have already accumulated an outstanding national and international career, alongside the Under 16s who could also surprise at the World Championships,” said Jim Hogan.    

The statement also states that surfers André Chacón, Gabriele Córdoba, Steven Arauz, Rachel Agüero, Leonardo Apreda, Cedric McCrakin, Axel Castro and Ethan Hollander, among others, took part in the pre-selection process.

It is also clarified that the national champion Rubiana Brownell, and the national Under 16 runner-up, Sam Reidy, are doing the paperwork to be able to represent Costa Rica in international events.
