Special coverage presented by Surf City El Salvador

The Costa Rican surfing federation has just announced the team that will represent its country at the most important ISA world championship in history, which will take place between May 29 and June 6 in El Salvador.

One of the most powerful squads on the planet is made up as follows:

Ladies:
Hennessy Breeze
Leilani McGonagle
Eva Woodland
Nataly Bernold (substitute)

Men
Anthony Fillingim
Noah Mare McGonagle
Carlos Muñoz
Jair Perez (substitute)

The coach is Australian Mick Horrocks.

Costa Rica won the ISA World Championships in Nicaragua in 2015 with Noe Mar McGonagle taking gold that year and Carlos Muñoz placing fifth.

Leilani McGonagle has won several events around the world in the WSL and has excelled in the ISA as well.

Brisa Hennessy is a member of the first division of world surfing, the CT, and must participate in the world championship in El Salvador to confirm her already guaranteed place in Tokyo 2020.

*This note has been modified: Nataly Bernold was originally a member and she is actually a substitute. Apologies to everyone.
