Costa Rica achieved a historic one-two in the United States
Aaron Ramirez was champion in the Under 16 category at the Grom Search in New Smyrna and Sam Reidy placed second
Jacó-born Aaron Ramirez has just won the third leg of the Rip Curl Grom Search series in the United States, beating several of the best U16 surfers in the very surfing city of New Smyrna, in the state of Florida.
In second place was the Dominical Sam Reidy location, achieving a historic Costa Rican podium on Costa Rican land.
“I’m happy for this victory, but I’m even happier that Sam and I are the best in our first time participating in this tournament and that way we raised the flag of Costa Rica high here in Florida,” Aaron said in contact with DUKE.
On the way to the grand final and in the grand final they defeated several of the most well-known groms in the United States, such as Crosby Colapinto, Caleb Rapson, Josh Valentin and Blake Speir.
With this result, Ramírez earned a spot in the national grand final of the Grom Search, which will take place in November in Ventura, California.
