Costa Rica is getting closer to having its national surfing day

The country's Permanent Commission approved the project for its creation

The Permanent Commission of Costa Rica accepted last Monday the proposal of the bill to create the National Surfing Day, according to the Costa Rican Surf Federation on its website. Facebook.

The Plenary must now decide on the proposal.

The deputy and promoter of the proposal, Melvin Núñez, said: "Now the bill goes to a vote in the first debate in the plenary session of the Legislative Assembly, which means that we would be just a few weeks away from the 57 deputies deciding whether it is finally approved or not." If it is accepted in the Plenary, it goes to a second debate.

The proposal was created at the end of January this year by the Surf Federation and Congressman Melvin Núñez.

If National Surfing Day is created, it would be every third Sunday in October and in accordance with the Press release published by the federation in January, the first would be in 2020.
