Costa Rican Ethan Hollander achieved another victory in the United States

At 10 years old he won the under 14, made the final in the under 16 and reached three more semi-finals.

Costa Rican Ethan Hollander achieved a new victory in the National Student Circuit of the United States (NSSA) which celebrated a new stage yesterday at Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz, California.

At 10 years old, he won the under-14 division, achieved a podium in the under-16 division and reached the semi-finals in the under-12 division, his coach, former professional Diego Naranjo, told DUKE.

Hollander, who lives in Playa Dominical, was on a dream trip to the Mentawai Islands in the past few weeks where (see photos) he surfed magical waves. He then returned to training in Costa Rica and headed off to California where, according to the federation of that country, he secured his 10th podium finish in the United States.

“Yesterday’s victory in the U14 category by Ethan, at just 10 years of age, confirmed him in the national record books after he himself, at 8 years of age during the 2015-2016 season, had won his first stop in this same championship,” says the press release from the federation.

He adds: “Ethan is part of a wonderful generation of Costa Ricans, of which the Jacobeans Leonardo Apreda and David Monge stand out. Just between the three of them this year, they won six dates of the Kölbi National Circuit, out of the 7 that were run.”

The holiday in the Mentawai paid off.
