Cristian Merello placed third in the international big wave tournament in Brazil
Lucas Chumbo was crowned champion. According to the organizers, the waves broke with 12 meters of face and the Chilean shone in a final full of Brazilians.

Cristian Merello achieved a very respectable third place in the Mormaii Big Waves Challenge that took place today Monday at Praia do Cardoso, located in the Farol de Santa Marta south of Santa Catarina.
The event was won by the CT member of big waves and current winner of the best overall performance of the WSL Big Waves Awards, Lucas Chumbo Chianca who scored 9.25 and 8.75 in the grand final. Marcos Monteiro was second, Paulo Moura fourth, Caio Vaz fifth and Vinicius dos Santos sixth.
Athletes such as Pedro Calado and Carlos Burle also participated in the event, and Ross Clarke Jones, Andrew Cotton and Gabriel Villarán were invited, among others.
