Daniella's dilemma

The Pan American and the WSL Junior World Championships fall on the same dates, and the Peruvian youth is qualified for both

By finishing second at the Sao Chico Eco Festival last Sunday and being crowned South American junior vice-champion, Peru's Daniella Rosas guaranteed herself a spot in the WSL U18 World Championships.

The event will take place in Taiwan, between December 1 and 9, at exactly the same time as the 2018 Pan American Surfing Games, which are the main way to enter Lima 2019 and which has two spots reserved for two Peruvians.

Neither the Peruvian national surfing federation, Fenta, nor the athlete have commented on what the surfer will do.

It is a “nice” problem if you will, at 16 years old Rosas has two prestigious places to choose from, one is the Peruvian national team and the possible participation in Lima 2019 and the other is among the 18 best young surfers on the planet in the WSL world championship.

It is interesting to see what it would entail if Daniella and her team choose to go for the WSL World Championships, because, as everything is looking now, the team of four open women for the Pan American would be made up of her, Melanie Giunta, Analí Gómez and Sofía Mulanovich.

Who would replace Daniella if she chooses to go for the WSL World Championship? The answer will not be long in coming.

Another piece of good news for Peruvians is that they have plenty of female talent.
