Daniella Rosas and Gabriel Aramburú were nominated for the Panam Sports Awards
Of some 40 athletes and coaches from all sports throughout the Americas, the two Peruvians were chosen
Peruvian surfer Daniella Rosas and surfer and coach Gabriel Aramburú were nominated for the Panam Sports Awards in the categories of best new generation female athlete and best coach, the organization reported on its official website.
This is the first time in history that the awards have been held and 43 nominees in nine categories were chosen from all over the Americas and the Caribbean.
The winners will be announced on December 13 at a gala in Fort Lauderdale.
In her categories, Daniella is nominated along with Adriana Díaz (PUR) who is a table tennis player, Delfina Pignatiello (ARG) who is a swimmer, Evita Griskenas (USA) who is a gymnast, Katherin Nuevo (CUB) who is a canoeist and Yenny Sinisterra (COL) who is weightlifter.
For his part, Gabriel is faced with Deysiana Mena (CRC) athletics coach, Ivan Bautista (MEX) diving coach, Rolando Acebal (CUB) boxing coach and Stephen Francis (JAM) athletics coach.
Panam Sports is what was previously the Pan American Sports Organization, ODEPA, the Pan American entity that governs sports in America and the Caribbean recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
