Special coverage presented by Maui and Sons

Peruvian Daniella Rosas has just been crowned South American surfing champion of the World Surf League, after her closest contender, Chilean Lorena Fica, was eliminated on the second day of the Maui and Sons Pichilemu Women's Pro being held in Punta de Lobos.

With this, according to calculations made by DUKE, none of the surfers remaining in the competition can reach the 1560 points that Rosas guaranteed with the victory in the QS in Mar del Plata, the 13th in Iquique and the 13th now in Pichilemu.

This is the sixth South American professional title that Peru has won, and with this victory it has beaten Brazil by six to five in the history of champions.

The event defined its quarter-finalists who will compete in the final day tomorrow as follows:
Leilani McGonagle vs Ella McCaffray
Freya Prumm vs Camila Kemp
Analí Gómez vs Carol Henrique
Josefina Ané vs Yolanda Hopkins
