Dominic Barona is now the South American WSL champion

No one can catch her in the final stage in Punta de Lobos. It is the second regional title of the year that the Ecuadorian has won in advance.

Ecuadorian Dominic “Mimi” Barona is the new South American of the WSL, the organization announced yesterday in an official press release. No matter what the result of the final stage in Punta de Lobos between November 1 and 3, she is already the owner of the South American cup.

This is the second regional title of the year for the Montañita native (she won the Latin American tour in advance) and the second WSL title of her career, Barona had won that edition of the event in 2011. This year's title has its own special touch because it was the most competitive South American QS tour in history with nine stages.

Barona won three, placed second in one and third in another of the five events that count towards the final ranking. With 4310 points, her closest rival, Melanie Giunta (who has 3260) cannot reach her even if she wins and Barona obtains a bad result.
