The Latin American Association of Professional Surfers (ALAS) has decided to expand the number of competitors for the Surf City El Salvador Latin Pro, a four-star event that will take place between December 10 and 13 in El Tunco, authorities from the organization informed DUKE.

There are already 95 registered for an original quota of 80, so the format was changed from 64 competitors for men to 80 and from 16 competitors for women to 24.

On the website, 55 men and 20 women appear registered, but there are already 20 Salvadoran competitors, 16 men and 4 women, who have reserved their participation, which leaves the number of registered participants at 95 as of today.

With this number of surfers, ALAS officials informed DUKE that they hope to hold the event in three and a half days, using almost the entire four-day window.

"The decision was made to not leave anyone out," the association's president, Karín Sierralta, told DUKE.

The hunger was felt not only with the level, this ALAS will be one of the most competitive in history, but also with the number of countries.

The entrants represent Peru, Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Chile, the United States, Venezuela, Panama, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Argentina and El Salvador.

Below are all the registered participants to date, plus 20 Salvadoran venues, which we will report on soon:
