Ecuador is the majority facing the final day of the first ALAS of Galapagos

Five of the 16 surfers remaining in the tournament are locals. Chile follows closely with four

The first event in the history of the Latin American Association of Professional Surfers to be held on the island of Santa Cruz, Galapagos, had fun and consistent conditions today, to define the top 16 in the Open category.

They are:

S1: Cristobal Montecinos (CHI) vs Maximiliano Cross (CHI)
S2: Anderson Duran (ECU) vs Felipe Rodriguez (ECU)
S3: Jonathan Chila (ECU) vs Marcelo Rodríguez (ARG)
S4: Maruan Farah (BRA) vs Alex Suárez (ECU)
S5: Samuel Igo (BRA) vs Nicolas Undurraga (CHI)
S6: Jerónimo Ané (ARG) vs Jhony Corzo (MEX)
S7: Roberto Araki (CHI) vs Martín Passeri (ARG)
S8: Roberto Rodríguez (ECU) vs Gabriel Vargas (PER)

If a top surfer like Uruguayan Sebastian Olarte failed to make it into the top 16, then the level is high, especially since these are small beach break conditions. All photos: ALAS
