Weekly Editorial: Intelligent people don't believe that the WSL is conspiring against Brazil
Important topics to be discussed about professional surfing in April 2024

I was happily reassured after five serious Brazilian journalists, whom I trust, said that they do not believe there is a conspiracy in the WSL against Brazilians.
Because really, if one stops to read some notes from pseudo media, posts from pseudo communicators and yellow-green comments, there is a kind of conviction that the world is conspiring against them, just to screw them, out of a kind of racism or envy because they have been dominating the scene for 10 years and that's it... They want their moment to end.
Luckily, as always, that wonderful country that is Brazil has intelligent people who found worthy explanations for the situation of its best surfers today and that was captured in this note: https://dukesurf.com/why-brazil-is-having-its-worst-historical-season-in-the-ct/
The approaches are different, but it is agreed that the absence of the most suitable surfers for the beginning of the year (Chianca and Toledo), among other things, has been key to the current situation. Yes, it is surprising that Italo and Medina are not higher up, but there is a sensible and well-considered approach from very capable people.
The five in the article agree that Houshmand did not win that series against Medina, I think so and I think that, as Laura Enever said in the magazine and the three-time champion contradicted her: He made the mistake. That's how beautiful surfing is and that's how the world is, the "agree to disagree"
Amazingly, I wrote about this last week, while everything was happening in Australia: The beauty of surfing is that it is perfectly interpretable by everyone. Of course, the interpretation of educated people should be chosen over that of the kooks… And, in a competition (and in free surfing too) the best surfer is not the one who has the most fun.
Below are the most relevant news of the week, which is a lot because it has been an unusually busy week.
