Australian Ethan Ewing, third in the world after suffering an injury before the Tahiti event, seems to be recovering quickly, reports Beach Grit, which details that he has already surfed six times and is spending time in the gym to be ready in time for the Lowers finals that will take place between September 8 and 16.

His presence in the race would throw out the window all the suggestions and conversations that there were about the possibility of the sixth-ranked player surfing in the finals.

Without having competed in Tahiti, Ewing finished the tour in third place and to become world champion he will have to first get past the winner of the series between Chumbinho Chianca and Jack Robinson and then beat Griffin Colapinto and Filipe Toledo.

His injury occurred after a tube closed, hitting the reef and consequently fracturing two vertebrae. Initially it was said that this would keep him out of the water for at least three months, but these signs suggest that the Australian intends to make it in time.
