“I still have a long way to go but I am doing everything I can to give myself a chance to compete at Trestles,” wrote the Australian.

Australian Ethan Ewing is currently travelling to Lower Trestles, California, home of the WSL Finals taking place from September 8-16.
His participation in the event is not yet confirmed, but it is becoming more and more plausible; a few days ago BeachGrit reported that the Australian had already surfed six times since the injury.
Ewing posted around the same time some photos of him working out and setting up planks and a story of him on the plane, traveling: “It’s been just over three weeks since I got home from injuring my back in Tahiti. It’s been great to come back with so much support in my rehab and I’m more comfortable now that my pain levels have gone down significantly.”
He added: “I still have a long way to go but I am doing everything I can to give myself a chance to compete at Trestles.”
Ewing was injured in training prior to the tenth stage of the tour in Teahupoo, fracturing two vertebrae.
Initially, there was talk that he would probably not make it, that his recovery without surgery would take three months, but the Australian is proving that he can make it.
