Europe's first indoor wave pool to open at the end of the year

In The Hague, Holland. Only those who now put up money to build it will be able to use it.

Europe's first indoor wave pool will open in The Hague, Netherlands, at the end of 2018, if a crowdfunding of 80.000 euros is completed, and will be used only by those who contribute funds to do so, reports the 24/7 Waves website, the construction company.

The SurfPoel will be able to generate one-meter waves with a nine-second travel and 17-second interval during the day and night.

The crowdfunding website offers different membership levels ranging from 10 to 900 euros and even offers the option of having a party with friends, the price of which is “negotiable”. According to the report, 3000 hours are available for sale and half of the goal has already been raised.

The price of one hour is 60 euros and two hours for 100 euros, but it is not clear how the distribution will be divided between the different members after the pool is opened, nor how it will be sustainable once it is up and running.

In the video, the surfers explain that they want to be able to surf all the time, no matter if it is day or night and rain or shine and that is why they go for a covered spot.

The example for other cities without waves is interesting: Get together with some friends, ask everyone for money and build the group pool. Then surf day and night every day until you get tired.
