Everything you need to know about the judging criteria for the Surf City El Salvador ISA World Longboard Championship

With one of his chief judges, Thierry Vidal

Special coverage presented by Surf City - El Salvador Travel

The transition from the previous criteria, known as 50 and 50, of considering longboarding 50% classic and 50% modern to 100% classic often leaves many questions about what the judges want to see at the Surf City El Salvador ISA World Longboard Championship.

The questions put to one of the two chief judges of this event, the Frenchman Thierry Vidal, were the following:

-What would be a wave that enters the scale of the excellent surfed in El Sunzal?

-When you talk about the critical part, do you mean doing hang 5 and 10 there?

-How much are maneuvers valued? If someone does an off the lip, does it get points?

-How much does it matter that the walk to the top is with control and style?

-Does walking towards the tip and not hanging your toes count as points?

-What pays the most then is to hang your fingers on the critical in a wave of the series and extend the walk (always staying in a critical section)

-How is the panel of judges composed?

The answers are in the video above.
