Fenta maintains her stance on Sofia Mulanovich
The defending champion says she will not give in, if she is not granted the quota, she will step aside
The Peruvian Surfing Federation reaffirmed its position that the defending world champion, Sofia Mulanovich, will have to participate in the qualifiers for the
ISA World Championships to be held over three dates in March, they said in a statement posted on their Instagram.
According to the experts, there is no regulation that guarantees Sofía a place in El Salvador 2021 and therefore she will have to compete on equal terms with the other 13 athletes who were preselected.
“Sofia is always our queen! We recognize her status as a friend and as an international athlete; but we also tell her to take the truth into account and to move forward for the children who also have dreams and are observing the sports panorama that concerns us,” says one of the paragraphs of the statement.
Meanwhile, on the Movistar Deportes channel, when asked what she would do if everything remains the same, Mulanovich said that she will not give in, that the spot is hers and that if they do not give it to her, she will step aside and Peru will have to travel to the World Cup without her.
She also says that Fenta has not contacted her, that they said they would call her but they didn't and that she finds out all the information through Instagram.
