Filipe Toledo said he will return to the tour in 2025

"I'm coming back more relaxed, calmer and I'm going up (…) I think it's time to bring back that more aggressive Filipe from my beginnings on the circuit," said the Brazilian.

Filipe Toledo assured that in 2025 he will be back on the world surfing tour, he said that the plan was always that and that, as planned, he will be there to seek his third world title, this was revealed in an interview with Globo Esportes.

“I am calm. The plan was always to take the year off and come back in 2025. I am calm, the plan remains as we put it on paper at the beginning of the year, in 2025 we are back, prepared, trained and ready to face that world circuit for a while longer (laughs),” he said.

But he stressed: “I'm coming back more relaxed, calmer and I'm going up. I think that Filipe was passive, calm... I think it's time to bring back that more aggressive Filipe from my beginnings on the circuit.”

He concluded by saying that for him: “It will be a surfing show, with many stages that are back like Gold Coast, JBay, finals in Fiji, so it will be a very good opportunity to show my surfing, joyful, happy and light. I have everything to make things go well.”

Toledo dropped out of this year's World Tour after a tepid showing on Stage 1 at Pipeline.

Between rounds 1 and 2 he claimed to have stomach poisoning and then said he would not compete for the rest of the year.

The 29-year-old Brazilian already has two world titles, won in 2023 and 2022 with the new finals format in place.
