Filipe Toledo: “Unfortunately, what happened happened”
“God knows what he is doing, everything is fine, everyone is fine,” he added; the two-time world champion made peace and hugged the photographer.
Filipe Toledo changed his attitude radically minutes after leaving the water angry for having hit his board against the official WSL photographer, Thiago Diz, and sent a positive message, speaking to the Instagram account People on Tour: “God knows what he is doing, everything is fine, everyone is fine.”
“Unfortunately, what happened happened; Thiago, unfortunately, was in the wrong place at the end of the wave. But that's the way things are, I'm fine and he's fine. With the force I hit his camera, if I had hit him it would have been much more serious and damaging,” he added.
He said: “I really didn’t have the mind to surf the left afterwards (…) I’m motivated, we still have Brazilians in the event so we’re going to cheer for everyone, send the vibe. Let’s go up, there’s more for the next one.”
The Brazilian was unable to complete the final move on his second forehand in his round of 16 tie against Kanoa Igarashi because his board collided with Diz's housing.
When he came out of the water he looked angry, asked for the photographers to be removed from the water and said “fuck this shit”.
Later, as People on Tour also reported, Diz and Toledo hugged and made peace.
