The current leader of the CT rankings, Filipe Toledo, who was named as one of the main attractions of the US Open, announced today that he will not be part of the event due to a family problem he had upon returning from South Africa where the ninth stage of the CT was held, reported the AOS Media platform.

According to sources close to the family, one of the members of Toledo's team needed a document to re-enter the United States, so what they did was wait for the document to be sent to Qatar, where they were making a stopover.

All the inconvenience meant that Filipe did not arrive on time for the US Open, but he took advantage of the opportunity to travel to Tahiti beforehand, where he will basically try to maintain his first position in the rankings and train on the wave in which he has not obtained his best results.

Toledo will also compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics and has acknowledged that one of the low points of his surfing is surfing the famous wave in Tahiti.

Toledo's replacement at the US Open was American John Mel.
