The most important stage of the year on the ALAS tour, the Salvadoran one, begins tomorrow, Thursday, November 9 at 7:00 AM.
Everything you need to know about the event is below:
Four days to the full: There are eight categories and more than 150 entrants. Marathon days are expected to begin at 7 AM and end around sunset to crown the champions.
The most important stage of the year: Being a prime six-star in the eight categories, Open, Under 14, Under 18 and Longboard in both genders, will be key to determining the champion here; which will surely happen because the number of points is almost the same as those added by the leaders in four stages.
The leaders of the ranking: Tao Rodriguez from Panama leads in open men, Melanie Giunta from Peru in open women, Victor Camarena from Panama in Under 14 and Under 18 men, Gwendolyn Adams from the United States in Under 14 women, Catalina Zariquiey in Under 18 women, Rafael Cortez in Longboard men and Kirra Silver from Mexico in Longboard women (see full ranking here).
Forecast: The sea will be small but fun for Thursday, Friday and part of Saturday, when it will begin to improve for a Sunday with fun to good waves (see full forecast here).
Some beasts present: There are several world champions and former champions and vice-champions registered in the championship, also former Latin and South American champions and former members of the CT, to mention a few: Carlos Muñoz, Lucca Mesinas, Lolo Bellorin, Nono Pereira, Noemar McGonagle, Sol Aguirre, Mimi Barona, among others.
In longboarding there are important names, such as Tony Silvagni, Carlos Bahía, Julián Schweizer, Nacho Pignataro and the recently crowned silver medalist in Santiago 2023, Rafael Cortez.
Young promises (and current ones) such as Thiago Passeri, Nadav Attar, Maxi Sáenz, Teo Gale, Victor Camarena, among others, will also be in the tournament.
