Special coverage presented by Surf City El Salvador

Pipe has Jamie O'Brien, Mavericks has Peter Mel, Jaws has Billy Kemper and Punta Roca has Bryan Pérez.

From December 2 to 5, the ALAS Pro Tour champion will be decided in Jeffreys Bay, Latin America, in an event that promises to be a marathon with almost 200 competitors in four categories.

The Latin champion in each division will be defined and everything points to an ideal outcome.

Add that to the fact that if some southern energy is present and the queen performs as she knows how, and you have an unforgettable championship.

Below, Punta Roca local Bryan Pérez shares some key insights into his wave and why the important event is taking place there.

1: How do you feel about ALAS being done on your wave this time?

I'm super happy that they're holding this event here, on my wave, where I grew up, where I've been surfing since I was little.

The truth is that it is a dream come true, I had always wanted to compete in an event of this level, a QS or an ALAS and it has always been my dream.

It's a dream come true to have this event here. The most important thing will be to enjoy the waves and how special it is to compete in one of my favorite waves at a very good level.

2: Who do you see as strong in Punta Roca (besides yourself), locals and foreigners?

On a wave of this calibre everyone is going to surf really well. I feel that everyone is going to surf really well and give it their all. And I'm sure that with such an incredible wave there will be many who surf well.

Among the locals, Alejandro Martínez will be very strong in Junior, Francisco Martínez “Pipi”, if he competes he will be very good in Punta Roca, Daniel Monterrosa and Porfirio Miranda are incredible.

Everyone, everyone is going to surf really well and it's going to be a show that everyone is going to enjoy.

With incredible waves, God willing, and with everyone surfing it will be a show.

3: Share some keys on reading the wave.

The wave is a perfect right that lends itself to all kinds of maneuvers, aerials, tubes and other maneuvers.

4: When you were a kid, who were your role models in the wave? Why?

When I was a kid and they did the QSs and the ALAS, I liked to watch Jimmy Rotherham and Policía Alvarenga, they were at the same level as those from other countries. I always loved watching them raise the flag of El Salvador at the top. They were the ones I looked up to and I wanted to be like them.

5: What combo are you preparing to do on the wave at the event?

I don't think I'm going to do a combo, I just let everything flow on the wave and let everything happen and I enjoy it. That's the psychological part I'm going to take, enjoy the waves and do what I do every day in Punta Roca, my beautiful little house.
