Today Brisa Hennessy made history for Costa Rica but also for Latin America. We have to go back to 2009 to find a Latin American victory in the CT, the only ones really, which were achieved thanks to the Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich.

Latin America, and if you like, Latin America, thanks to the few victories of Tita Tavares, Andrea Lopes and Silvana Lima, was once again at the top of the podium.

Raised in Matapalo, in the south of Costa Rica, in the middle of the jungle, far from any civilization, the place where Brisa lived, enjoyed and learned to surf, today she showed once again that there are no limits or borders in the sea...

Below are some photos of his victory:

This curve by Brisa was the one that earned her nine points to beat Sakura Johnson and make it to the grand final.
Brisa's ability to be quick around the bend, place both hands in the water and quickly attack the lip (like Jack Robinson does) was key to her victory.
"I can't believe it" face.
Two Hawaiians, a Japanese and a Costa Rican. Costa Rica at the top.
