Five postcards from the venue of the final stage of the ALAS Pro Tour: Punta Roca

Fingers crossed that it turns out like this

The final stage of ALAS will take place between December 2 and 5 in one of the most legendary waves in Latin America and the world: Punta Roca.

Latin America's Jeffreys Bay is known for its tubes, its power, the length of its waves and its wide sections for maneuvering with powerful curves or doing aerials.

It is also an extremely sensitive wave, it breaks at half a metre but also at three, four, five...

Its nickname, the Jeffreys Bay of Latin America, is well deserved, although it has several advantages: the heat and the absence of sharks (at least the aggressive ones) in the line up.

Above and below, five postcards that the respected Californian photographer, Billy Watts, took on the wave a few years ago.

How can there be no one in the water? All photos: Billy Watts
This photo was taken during one of the best QSs in many years on the entire world tour. How many QS tournaments have waves like the one in the photo? The tubed competitor must not have really cared about the result.
Two treasures of La Libertad: Fishing and waves in one photo.
Locals appreciating the beauty of their town. This photo shows how long Punta Roca is, how it sticks to the rocks along its course, creating sections of maneuvers with sections of tubes. The Jeffreys Bay of Latin America? Yes.
