For the final event, Jack Robinson parted ways with Leandro Dora
The complicated situation of the Australian, the coach and Yago, led to this decision; it is not clear who made the decision.
Australian Jack Robinson, seeded fourth for the Fiji finals, will not be surfing under the coaching of Leandro Dora, his longtime coach, he told Stab.
“I'm going to do this one with my own people, this time. Because, because (smiles)… Yeah, the whole situation, the circumstances, I thought… It's the end of the year, and I'll just do it on my own, and that'll be fine,” he said, sometimes smiling, sometimes more serious.
Dora is the father of Yago Dora, the number 1 seed who is one series away from winning the world title.
Yago is being coached by a low-profile coach, Leandro da Silva, but he ended up being key for the Brazilian who reached the final for the first time and did so in first place.
It has not been reported whether the decision was agreed upon by both parties or made by one of the parties.
But the reason is clear: The father would have to fight against his son in the achievement of a historical fact.
So the decision was for Jack to surf alone.
