Needless to say, the Costa Rican is very used to these waves because she lives in front of Pavones, one of the longest and best left-hand waves in the world.

She knows how to compete, she knows how to win and she knows how to generate points if the sea turns inconsistent. A clear favourite who could play the role of spoiler in the fight for the South American title.

Sol Aguirre

The Peruvian was raised in the north of Peru and that is half of the reason why she is the favourite: there are only left-handers there. But she has also already won continental junior titles, which makes it clear that she knows how to win.

He is 16, still young, but he has been making progress in professional tournaments.

She is in very good form, having just placed fifth in the junior world championships. If she finds the waves, she can easily win the championship with her backside attack.

Ariane Ochoa

The former European junior vice-champion is looking forward to 2019, which saw her return to competition after a year out due to injury. She won a QS in South Africa in the middle of the year and although she did not finish on a high note, she went from not having a ranking to finishing in 66th position.
