Four moments from the last swell in Puerto Escondido

He didn't go XXL but he was hot, and waves keep coming in

There had been much talk about the possibility of the Puerto Escondido Cup taking place last Monday, the event that replaced the departure of the Puerto Escondido Challenge from the WSL orbit. A yellow alert was given but then withdrawn. The move proved to be a good one because the sea dawned somewhat stormy on Monday.

Anyway, Sunday and Tuesday were great, with waves of 6 to 10 feet breaking consistently and the whole gang in the water.

Moment 1: Gregorio Cruz's left foot

According to local filmmaker Jaciel Santiago, Gregorio "Pepino" Cruz had been away from Zicatela's lineup for a while and this was the first hard session he faced. It's clear that he didn't forget what he had learned before and that he knows how to surf his home waves. It's also clear that his return had a very rich flavor.

Moment 2: The Quetzal Estrada swell tube

For Jaciel Santiago, who spends hours and hours behind the lens in Zicatela, this was the tube of the swell and it was taken by someone who is usually behind the camera and behind the microphone, Quetzal Estrada. The Mexican works as a filmmaker and also does the Spanish-language broadcasts of WSL events. In his free time he tubes the day in Puerto Escondido.

Moment 3: Max Diaz, long and deep

Max is from California but his girlfriend is from Puerto Rico. This has led him to spend a lot of time at the most powerful beach break in the world and, consequently, a lot of time inside the tubes.

Moment 4: Miguel Blanco, coming out with the spit

Straight from the tubes of El Gringo, in Arica, the Portuguese Miguel Blanco arrived well trained to Puerto Escondido, ready to do what is seen in the video. That's how he found the tubes and found the way out.
