Francisco Morosini is the new Uruguayan surfing champion
In a close final in which Luisma Iturria needed to win to become five-time champion, Matías Nóbrega won the stage and gave the title to his childhood friend

Francisco Morosini was crowned Uruguayan Open surfing champion in a very close final round that took place on the perfect waves of La Aguada, Rocha. Powerful and maneuverable one-meter walls and tubes broke throughout the day.
Three surfers with a chance of winning the stage arrived at the stage: Iturria, who would only win if he won the stage, Olarte, who had to place third or better, and Morosini, who would win if the others did not achieve that or if he improved on a third place.
When the third round arrived, in a fundamental series in which Morosini met Olarte and Iturria, the latter turned the series around and went to the semis, then to the grand final and there, if he won, he would be obtaining a historic fifth Uruguayan championship.
In a very close final, the goofy footer from La Paloma, Matías Nóbrega won 12,4 to 11,5 and handed the title to Fran Morosini who was biting his nails on the side of the podium.
Meanwhile, in the women's category, Delfina Morosini had already been crowned champion.
