If everything follows the course that the president of the Argentine Surf Association, Freddy Tórtora, has been predicting, the waves of Mar del Plata will see its surfers returning to the water in a week after more than two months of quarantine, the authority informed DUKE yesterday after meeting with the city authorities.

Tórtora, along with two-time ISA world champion Leandro Usuna, participated in a meeting with the Honorable Deliberative Council of the city, which included representatives from the Sports Commission and the Public Life and Health Commission.

Tórtora and Usunaa presented the protocol for the return of surfing and justified why surfing is one of the sports that should return soon, the authority reported.

“This week they are going to allow recreational outings and according to what the mayor of Mar del Plata told me, I spoke with him, next week they will allow individual activities. The first ones they will allow will be surfing, tennis and golf,” said Tórtora.

“So we are lighting candles so that there are not many cases here in Mar del Plata. For now, nothing is happening, it is very quiet in Mardel, there have been no cases for three or four days or more. So if we are lucky, we will be on our way soon,” he concluded.
