Good waves forecast for WSL finals
“A lot of swell is lining up for the waiting period,” says the wave forecasting company used by the entity
The waves will be plentiful for the WSL finals that will determine the 2021 world surfing champion, forecasting firm Surfline.com reported.
Within the waiting period, which runs from September 9 to 17, it will take just one day to crown the champions.
Surfline predicts that the first few days, the 9th and 10th, will see fun waves from a swell that was generated in New Zealand and crossed the Pacific and will generate conditions from chest to head size and even provide bigger sets.
They say it will “probably” be a good warm-up swell, with glassy mornings and soft onshores.
Looking ahead in time, they point out that a stronger swell will arrive on the 12th, “certainly” stronger between the 13th and the 16th, which will then subside on the final day of the waiting period, the 17th.
This swell was also generated by a storm near New Zealand that took place three days ago and is now heading towards California. This swell will enter Lowers on the 12th and Surfline reports that it will become more consistent and powerful on the 13th.
Waves ranging from overhead to a few feet overhead are expected over the four days from the 13th to the 16th with conditions expected to be favorable.
There is uncertainty regarding the wind, which tends to blow onshore in the afternoons, but they point out that the European model looks more optimistic than their own.
