The Guatemalan Surfing Association, Asosurf, launched the second edition of the international event Latin Fest, which will take place between October 13 and 16 at Hawaii Beach.
The tournament will feature Open categories for men and women, Bodyboard, Under 18, SUP Race and Longboard and will award cash prizes.
This is the second edition of the event. Last year it was held to mark the bicentennial of Guatemalan independence and the organization decided to repeat it.
The president of the Guatemalan surfing association, Beltrán Piedrasanta, shared with DUKE: “We are inviting the entire Latin American continent to participate in our great event.”
Surfers from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador participated in the 2021 tournament, Piedrasanta said. He added: “We hope to God that more countries can join this year, such as Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and the United States. We invite them to come and see our Guatemalan beaches and the south of Guatemala. Greetings to everyone and I hope to see you at Latin Fest 2022.”
Hawaii Beach is a very consistent left and right beach break that gets waves all year round. On its best days it features barrel sections and maneuvers.
