Australian Harrison Roach and American Soleil Errico were crowned world longboard champions after two epic days on the perfect right-handers of the iconic Malibu.
It was the first title of Roach's career and the second for local Errico.
The Australian defeated Kaniela Stewart in the grand final and the American defeated Hawaiian Sophia Culhane.
The results of the finals were as follows:
Ladies: 1 - Soleil Errico (USA) 17.04 2 - Sophia Culhane (HAW) 13.00
Men: 1 - Harrison Roach (AUS) 15.93 2 - Kaniela Stewart (HAW) 15.57
“Winning at home couldn’t be better. I’m happy for all the dedication and sacrifice I put into this and that it was finally rewarding,” Errico said.
“I’m very happy. I was close last year and I realized how difficult it is to get here,” said Roach, commenting that he fell on a key wave and left the door open for Kaniela Stewart, but that the score ultimately favored him. “I’m very lucky to be here,” he concluded.
