Brisa Hennessy guaranteed herself a spot in CT 2020

She finished third in the QS 6000 in Australia and moved up to fifth in that ranking. Check out who qualified, requalified and can double qualify for the elite

Costa Rican Brissa Hennessy achieved an important third place in the last QS 6000 of the year, the Port Stephens Toyota Pro which ended last weekend in Birubi Beach, New South Wales, Australia.

The 3550 points of third place catapulted her from 8th to 5th place in the ranking, and with this, she left no doubt: She will be in the CT 2020 (the first six in the ranking qualify).

Hennessy is, however, partially classified by the CT, in tenth position, at the exact limit (the top 10 are guaranteed in the following year's Tour).

In order to stay among the elite in the final stage of the year's CT in Maui, which takes place between November 25 and December 6, Brisa needs to be beaten by Nikki Van Dijk, Silvana Lima, Coco Ho, Keely Andrew and Paige Hareb.

Hareb's case is especially important for the Costa Rican because if she beats her, she would lose her place in Tokyo 2020.

Other surfers who qualified for sure through the QS, although there may be double classifications are:

1: Isabella Nichols (will debut on the tour)
2: Bronte Macaulay (has a slim chance of double qualification, so it looks like she'll use this spot in the QS).
3: Sage Erickson (returns to the tour after a year away).
4: Tatiana Weston (all indications are she won't be using her QS spot)
5: Hennessy Breeze (we'll have to wait until the Maui leg to see if he uses this spot or not).
6: Macy Callaghan (will not reclassify through CT and will therefore use this spot).
7: Keely Andrew (will probably use her spot on the QS as she has a low ranking on the CT).
8: Amuro Tsuzuki (requires Tatiana and Brisa to qualify through the CT to get into the elite).
